Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad

As I mentioned last week, Mondays have become my official unofficial goal post day. It's incredibly exciting, I know.

And as you can probably infer from the title of today's post, I wasn't entirely successful. But I wasn't entirely unsuccessful either.

My goals from last Monday:

1. Blog three times.

Done! Strange to think that in one week, I've already blogged more in September than I did in August. Poor, sad neglected blog.

2. Complete chapters 19-20 of Second Nature.

Not exactly sure how to grade this goal. I mean, I didn't complete Chapter 20, so right there, I'm only eligible for partial credit. But then there's the curious case of Chapter 19 itself. I told you on Friday about the super fun detour the chapter took, and later that evening, I thought I had finally bushwhacked my way through to the other side and considered Chapter 19 to be (first draft) finished. Then, on Sunday morning, I intended to start work on Chapter 20, but ended up back in Chapter 19 Land. While all the scenes in that chapter are done, I still feel like there's something missing. I had intended to let it marinate and go back to it in the second draft, but I'm not sure I'll be able to let it go just yet. Anyway, I'm not counting this goal as met.

3. Read a book (Code Name: Verity by Elizabeth Wein)

Done. Pretty damn awesome book, too. I got all emotional toward the end. And that just doesn't happen very often. I'd really like to read the companion novel (Rose Under Fire) now. Fortunately, it's being released in the US tomorrow. How's that for timing?

And now for something totally expected...this week's goals:

1. Chapter Twenty

Right now it closely resembles a black hole. I have a plan to change that landscape. It's not a complete plan, and possibly not a very good plan, but it's a start at least.

2. Take donation bags to Good Will.

It's time. They're starting to take over the house, and that's space I can use for books.

3. Speaking of books, read one this week.

This week's selection: Someday, Someday Maybe by Lauren Graham (of Gilmore Girls fame).

That's going to do it for me today. What's on your agenda this week?
