Busy day. Busy, busy day with lots to cover, so let's get to it.
It's April 1st, so that means the A to Z Challenge is once again upon us. It was created by the amazing Arlee Bird (who, by the way, looks to have an awesome A to Z theme this year) and challenges participants to post every day in the month of April (with Sundays off for good behavior) and so thematically starting with A and ending with Z.
After a lot of hemming and hawing, I signed up. I am #977 on a list of (last I looked anyway) 1746 participants.
Wow.
This is my third year taking part and each year, I wing it. So this year, my official theme is... Anything Goes. (and give yourself bonus points if you now have a certain Broadway song stuck in your head like I do)
I always start off making a list of possible topics and plan some of these things out, but eventually—usually after the first day—I go off book and scramble for posts. Next week, I'll likely be found wandering the streets in my pajamas crying "G...what starts with G?"
But it's a wild and crazy time that I just can't pass up because I find a lot of interesting people and a lot of interesting blogs this month. So if you find me wandering around the streets, just give me a cookie (chocolate chip preferred), a pat on the head and direct me on home.
Thanks, Arlee, for coming up with this challenge.
And I'm already breaking one of the official unofficial rules of the challenge (keep posts short) so, as always, feel free to stop reading at any time, but like I said at the start, it's April 1st which also means it's time for...
Indie YA author Patricia Lynne's Are You Writing Now? group.
The goal of the group is very simple: set goals and be held accountable for those goals. And if you know me or read this blog on a semi-regular basis, you know I love to set goals. Participants set a series of goals for a month and then at the end of the month, revisit, be honest about how you did with said goals, then create a new set for the next month.
I, sadly, haven't participated in this group for a few months now. It was another one of the victims of the Very Bad News I had toward the end of last year, when I let almost everything kind of... fall apart and slip away. But I am back now (provided they haven't banned me or shunned me or anything). So here are my writing goals for April:
1. Find a copyeditor/proofreader type person for Effigy. I have finished with my edits, and I am ready to move forward. I think.
2. Dig out Effigy's blurb and stop ignoring it. It still needs to be shortened. And, you know, finished. Which, I realize, will make that whole 'shortening' part more difficult, but hey, who doesn't love a challenge?
3. Solve the major plot problem that is holding up all progress on Effigy's sequel, Second Nature.
So that's going to do it for me today. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read what I'm babbling on about now. Tune in the rest of the month when I babble on about books and movies and fine dining and movies and television shows and movies and Joss Whedons and movies and my pajamas. And possibly movies.
I'm kidding about one of those topics. I'll leave you to work out which one.
Happy A to Z-ing, everyone!
