Moving on...
Today on the Challenge, we're starting with some bad new. My so called smart phone is now broken. I mean, sure, you can still make a call or receive a call so I guess in the aspect that it's a phone, it's not broken but here's what I can't do with it: ANYTHING ELSE. I can't send or receive text messages. Turn the sounds off. Check email. Update my Facebook status. Update my Twitter feed. Respond to anyone else's Facebook and/or Twitter feeds.
It's the last few that are really getting to me. I have a shift at The Store today. How ever will I tweet unflattering things about my co-workers? However will I tweet all the adorably sardonic haiku about my day if my stupid phone is just a phone? This is a disaster. If I can't tweet and/or facebook, I might get more work done. And if I get more work done, I'll get sent home even earlier than I usually do.
Sigh.
So yeah. That's a bummer. But shall we move on to today's feature favorite things?
First up is Buffy The Vampire Slayer, the television series created by my idol Joss Whedon. I didn't start watching this series until the third season when I just happened to have the television on during the season opener (Anne). I wasn't even really paying attention to it at first but when Buffy started kicking demon ass all over the place, my attention was most definitely caught.
And I haven't stopped watching it since. Just ask The Man. He can make a hell of a lot of Buffy references for someone who isn't a fan of the show.
A while back, I posted a list of my Top 30 favorite episodes because I didn't want to leave any out. Don't worry. I'm not posting that here. In the interest of time, I'm just going to post my top two episodes. But the link is there is you want to view and judge the full list. Please note: I like the ones that make me cry (or want to cry) but I LOVE the ones that make me laugh.
Here are the top two:
1. Once More With Feeling: The musical episode from season six, written and directed by Joss Whedon. From the opening credits to the singing Mutant Enemy logo at the end, this is a freaking awesome episode that made a number of other television shows want to do their own musical episodes. Best lines:
Buffy: Dawn's in trouble. Must be Tuesday.
Sweet: I love a good entrance.
Buffy: How are you with death scenes?
2. The Body: The season five episode where (SPOILER ALERT!!!!) Buffy's mom, Joyce, dies. It was written and directed by Joss Whedon and makes me cry every damn time I watch it. Every. Damn. Time. And right now, I'm getting all emotional just thinking about it. This is a beautiful episode, music free so there's nothing playing on your emotions except for the writing and the acting. And don't miss Anya's speech in Willow's dorm room.
All right. We're running short on time here. I have a shift calling my name (why won't it stop??) and you have another blog to visit (1800 participants!!) so let's shift to another television favorite: Battlestar Galactica.
Until Firefly (I'll be gushing about this (again) in a few days) came around, I never watched sci-fi. If a show took place in space, I didn't watch it because I wasn't really a sci-fi fan. I still don't count myself as a sci-fi fan. I'm a fantasy kind of girl. I want there to be sword fights and crossbows and mythical creatures. Spaceships and robots don't hold a lot of interest. But I watched this show because my brother's father-in-law recommended it to me and since he took my Joss Whedon recommendation (watch Buffy and Angel and Firefly), I felt I owed him the benefit of the doubt.
So glad I did because this show is (was?) amazing. It became one of those rare shows that both The Man and I watched and loved and couldn't get enough of, even though it was filled with robots and spaceships because it was also filled with complex characters who occasionally did stupid, stupid things (I loved flawed characters. They're so much more interesting) and there was also Jamie Bamber who is always very nice to look at.

*shakes head* Sorry. Got distracted for a moment there... I don't have a list of my favorite episodes for this show but really, you can't go wrong with the first season.
Anyway, I really have to go. Thanks to everyone who came by yesterday. I loved receiving all your comments and I'm beyond pleased to find there are so many Animaniac fans (or at least Pinky and the Brain fans) out there in the world. So if you're a Buffy or a BSG fan, tell me your favorite episodes or moments or characters, or whatever you want. I'll see y'all tomorrow. Provided my attitude doesn't get me in trouble with Management today. Well, more trouble than usual, that is.
